The print is probably one of the most important aspects of photography, and it doesn’t get any better than a hand-made silver-gelatin darkroom print. The trial and error of testing and tweaking your images, until it finally emerges from the developer - the perfect print. There is no greater satisfaction than that when it comes to the world of photography. Master the dark arts of the darkroom by truly making a photograph.

You will be provided with all the necessary equipment to learn to print in the darkroom, but you will need to bring your own developed black and white film for this class.


COURSE OUTLINE

Technical lesson

In this course, you will learn the fundamentals of darkroom printing and how to manipulate your negatives to achieve your artistic vision in silver-gelatin. We will take a look at how to get the most out of your images and the concepts behind darkroom printing.

 

Hands-on

After diving into some theory behind the darkroom print, you’ll get your hands wet and print your very own image. You’ll learn how to create contact sheets, test prints, as well as how to apply basic darkroom techniques such as dodging and burning, so you can achieve your perfect print!
